High Court Judge appointed

High Court Judge appointed

At present the High Court consists of 10 judges, 2 of whom are in the Commercial Division.

The slow delivery of judgments by the High Court has been blamed on the lack of judges. At present cases for trial are being allocated dates twelve months away.

The acting Chief Justice has said that he requires 4 more judges. These will certainly assist with the backlog but we doubt that it will alleviate it.

We are now informed that a new judge has been appointed. He is Mr. Justice Moroke Mokhesi, who is presently a magistrate at Mafeteng.

We welcome Judge Mokhesi’s appointment and look forward to more such appointments in the near future.
